Rattle From the Moonroof
Symptom
Rattle from the rear of the moonroof while driving over rough or bumpy roads with the sunshade open.
Probable Cause
The friction‑reducing coating has worn off the rear edge of the moonroof rubber seal.
Corrective Action
Replace the moonroof glass.

Diagnosis
1. Open the sunshade.
2. Push up on the rear of the moonroof glass and release it several times while listening for a squeaking or crunching noise.
- If no noise is heard, inspect for other causes.
- If noise is present, continue to the repair procedure.
Repair Procedure
1. Close the moonroof completely.
2. Slide the sunshade fully rearward.
3. Remove the cover from the moonroof glass bracket (one plug, one screw). Remove the four flange nuts. Note the number and location of any shims, then remove them.
4. Repeat step 3 on the opposite side.
5. Carefully lift out the moonroof glass and discard it.
6. Install the new glass and reinstall any shims removed earlier. Torque the flange nuts to 9 N·m (7 lb‑ft).
7. Check alignment and glass height; adjust if necessary.
8. Check for water leaks.
9. Reinstall the bracket covers.
