Acura Minivan?

Rumors on the internet show a possible Acura minivan. Both AutoBlog and LeftLane have images up showing a full covered minivan with an Acura MDX style grill. The galleries also show what seems to be a covered up Acura logo on the steering wheel.

Rumored features of Acura minivan:
  • Standard all-wheel drive
  • 9 speed automatic transmission
  • V6 engine (possible hybrid)
  • Luxurious interior with emphasis on 2nd row comfort

No one expected this, at least I didn't. Any guess on the name? MVX?

Next Gen Acura NSX Delayed?

Rumor has it that the next generation Acura NSX will be delayed for at least 6 months. A couple of things could have helped cause this schedule change.

First, there was a crash at Honda's Takasu Proving Ground in May (2014). Reports are saying that a car went off course while testing and two men in their 20's were hurt. The passenger was transported to a nearby hospital while the driver sustained minor injuries. Rumors are saying the vehicle was the new NSX.

If that wasn't bad enough, now there are images of a charred NSX destroyed due to fire while testing on the Nurburgring in Germany. The camo-ed prototype was completely destroyed after the engine compartment caught fire at the end of July (2014).

Here's video of the test NSX without fire:

Spied 2013 Acura RSX??

VTEC.net posted some images of what is supposedly the 2013 Acura sub-TSX. Some people are referring to it as the RSX sedan. But wait a minute, I thought the TSX was a "RSX sedan". Rumor has it that this future model is based off the Civic platform. But wait a minute times two! An Acura based off the Civic?? Isn't that just an Acura CSX?? My head hurts. My little brain is not powerful enough for Honda and Acura's ingenious ideas...

Spied 2013 Acura RDX?

VTEC.net has up some photos of a super camo-ed compact SUV that they are speculating to be the 2013 Acura RDX.

Tony Stark in an Acura?

Acura has been selected in the Marvel Comics Universe films as the official car of their fictional law enforcement agency called S.H.I.E.L.D. That relationship continues for The Avengers, so it comes to no surprise that we find Tony Stark in an Acura now instead of the usual Audi R8.

There are lots of rumors flying around for this thing. A popular one I have heard is it's a modified version of the Honda HSV with a hybrid powertrain. The HSV is a front engine, rear-wheel drive vehicle that Honda races in the Super GT. Others have speculated that this car is mid-engine with rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. There has also been some assumptions that Acura is using this to debut the production version when the movie releases. All we know for sure is according to an Acura spokesman this open-top sports car that was photographed on the set of The Avengers is "a one-off, fictional car that was made just for the movie and will not be produced." Awww... :(

I feel like Acura is a mess now!

I feel like Acura is a mess! Whatever happened the brand that brought us the Legend, NSX, and CL? It's unbelievable that there isn't a freaking coupe in the line up anymore! Now I read on various car sites that Acura is bailing out of the Tier 1 race. WTF?!?! How can they bail out on something they were never in? Supposedly, Acura is no longer interested in V8's and rear wheel drive cars because that would be copying everyone else... Yeah, everyone else in the luxury league! Even Hyundai has a V8 and rear drive! I also read somewhere that they might bring back the RSX, what the hell?!?! Make up your mind! Acura only killed it about 4 years ago! Now they're moving towards "Green Luxury". "Green Luxury"? For some reason, I don't envision something like a Lexus LS460H or GS450H coming down the pipelines but instead something more along the lines of a glorified Civic Hybrid. I know they're an automotive company and their goal is profit, but I feel like we were all lied to. This makes me mad! I used to care about resale value, but not anymore! Give me the next hand-built, mid-engine NSX! Give me a car and brand I can brag about getting when I'm a millionaire damn it!

2011 Acura MSX?

Acura cancelled the next NSX but will bring you the following:

The MSX (?), supposedly Acura's answer to BMW's X6 and Infiniti's FX.

The MSX is assumed to get a 3.7 liter V6 like it's brothers the RL, TL, and MDX, but could surprise everyone with Acura's infamous missing V8.

More realistically, the MSX will get an upgraded six speed automatic.

Rumors are focused around an upscaled interior and price.

The rumored to be low production crossover will mostlikely cost $42k to $50.

Intrigued yet? Acura.com

[Update: 03/30/2009] So now it's official, it's not a 2011 MSX, but a 2010 ZDX.

[Rumors] Speculative Rendering of Next Gen NSX

Auto Express put up some rendering of how the next generation NSX could look like.

Rumored specs-
Engine: 5.5 liter V10 (with cylinder deactivation technology)
Power: 550 hp
Torque: 420 lb-ft
Body: 2+2 ‘hybrid’ aluminum and steel body
Transmission:
8-speed auto with paddle shifters
Drivetrain: modified SH-AWD
Price: $150k+ (USD)
Date: 2010/2011

I got to say, that's a good looking car. I hope the production version looks very close to this. Acura has their hands full trying to become a Tier 1 brand, a good looking and performing supercar will only help.

Check out this link to see the prototype in action.

[Rumors] More 2009 TL Pictures

These first set of photos were taken by Josh Fried, a TOV reader, on a trip to Purdue University in Indianapolis.

The second set of photos came from automotivetraveler.com, they were take in California's Mojave Desert.

From what I have seen so far, I think the current generation Acura TL looks better. These spy photos so far give the next generation TL a Nissan Maxima-ish look. I'm also worried about the "Dynamic Power Plenum" grill that is going to sit in front.

[Rumors] 2011 RL & NSX

Supposedly, this chopped up TSX test mule is for the 2011 Acura RL. Rumors floating around suggest that the next RL will have a front engine, rear wheel drive layout with a V8 engine under the hood.

[Source] VTEC.net

The following pictures are rumored to be the next generation NSX, or a sub-NSX coupe priced in the $50-60k range. The pictures were snapped around the Nurburgring area in Germany. The next gen NSX is expected to have a new V10 engine with about 500hp and is front engined, with a modified version of SH-AWD that is rear-biased. This vehicle also looks like a 2+2 instead of the old style 2-seater.

According to edmunds.com, "Takeo Fukui, CEO of Honda, has tasked his R&D team with building an NSX that's faster around the Nürburgring than both the Nissan GT-R and the upcoming Lexus LF-A." Tetsuo Iwamura, American Honda President and CEO, confirmed the NSX will be launched in the U.S. in 2010. Honda will also be launching the Acura brand in Japan and Europe around the same time, but the automaker says it will launch the NSX in the U.S. market first.

Rumored to be released in two configurations: a base front-wheel drive car and an all-wheel drive model. The front-driver will have a 280 horsepower 3.5L V6 whereas the AWD model will get a 3.7L V6 producing 300 horsepower.

[Rumor] V8 + RWD for new 2010 Acura RL

I have read about how everyone suspects that Acura will be dropping in a V8 engine in the RL for years now and Acura still hasn't done it yet. However, Edmunds.com is reporting that Acura is finally listening to what people are saying and is planning to include a 420-horsepower 4.8-liter V8 with a rear-wheel drive platform. That sounds almost unbelievable because Honda seems to be on this whole anti-V8 and rear-wheel drive crusade.

The V8 engine should help Acura go up against other luxury automakers. To help improve fuel economy the engine will use cylinder deactivation technology found in the V6 Honda Accord. Edmunds.com states that the all-new RL will incorporate a rear-drive platform and "a reconfigured SH-AWD system that engages the front wheels when rear traction is compromised." The expected price is over $70k!?!?

I'm still in the "I'll believe it when I see it" audience with this, but you know, maybe Hyundai is embrassing Honda enough that they have to do it. Take a look at the 2009 Hyundai Genesis:

Rear-wheel drive, V8, and starting price below $30k! Ouch Honda/Acura, ouch!

2009 Acura TSX Spyshots?

Temple of VTEC has the following pictures up labeling them possible spyshots of the 2009 Acura TSX.

Supposedly, these pictures were sent in by TOV reader 'Tyson,' who works near Honda headquarters. The car in this photo looks very similar to the one caught last October.
