Squeak or Crunch From the Driver's Seat
Symptom
The driver’s seat-back may produce squeaking or crunching noises when the occupant moves.
Probable Cause
Seat cushion foam rubs against the seat-back frame, creating noise.
Corrective Action
Cloth tape must be applied to specific areas of the seat-back frame to eliminate rubbing.

Back Cover Clip (3 required): P/N 91566-SP0-003
Required Materials
Scotch Automotive Cloth Tape (3M P/N 021200‑06980) is required. This tape withstands interior temperature extremes. One roll repairs approximately three seat-backs.

Diagnosis
While seated, the technician moves their shoulders side-to-side. If noise is present, proceed to the repair procedure.
Repair Procedure
- Remove the driver’s seat-back cover (per service manual instructions).
- Remove the foam cushion from the seat-back frame.
- Apply cloth tape to the frame at the locations where rubbing marks appear on the foam.
- Reinstall the foam cushion.
- Reinstall the seat-back cover.
- Install three new back cover clips and reinstall the cover.
